Billing and Subscription
The Billing page is where users review their current subscription, track plan usage, manage payment methods, view billing history, and update their subscription when needed. It also provides access to corporate seat purchasing for shared organization accounts.
SkyPath starts users on a 30-day free trial. After the trial period ends, the user must move to a paid subscription tier to continue using the platform without interruption.
The individual paid plans include:
- Standard
- Professional
- Premium
For shared organization access, the platform also supports a Corporate Seat license. Corporate seats are used when an organization wants to invite additional users into the same shared workspace so they can collaborate across projects, collections, and other shared assets.
INFO
The Billing page is the central place for subscription status, payment actions, invoices, receipts, usage monitoring, and seat management.
Current Plan
The top section of the Billing page shows the current subscription.
This section includes:
- Current plan name
- Billing cycle
- Monthly price display
- Subscription status
- Next billing date, when available
- Plan start date
- Plan limits and included features
Depending on the account state, the page may also show alerts for:
- A scheduled cancellation
- A subscription issue
- Storage limit overages
When a subscription issue exists, the page can direct the user to update the payment method, reactivate the subscription, or contact support.
Trial and Paid Plans
New users begin on a free trial period. During the trial, the Billing page shows the account as trialing and displays the trial expiration date.
When the trial ends, the account must move to a paid subscription. Paid individual plans are presented as plan cards so users can compare pricing, limits, and included features.
The plan comparison experience includes:
- Plan name
- Monthly and annual pricing views
- Storage allocation
- AI token allocation
- Plan-specific features
All plans include the core platform features, such as:
- AI-powered question extraction
- AI-powered answer generation
- Export to PDF, DOC, and TXT
- AI chat interface
- Document Knowledgebase library
- Document content search
- Presentation generator
- Image generator
- Document summarization
- Profile and background generator
- SAM.gov search with the shared daily limit
Available Plans
For individual accounts, the Billing page includes an Available Plans section where users can compare and select plans.
The page provides a billing-cycle toggle so users can switch between:
- Monthly pricing
- Annual pricing
Annual billing is promoted as a savings option, with the page indicating savings of up to 20 percent depending on the plan.
TIP
If you already know you will continue using the platform beyond the trial, review the annual pricing option before upgrading. Annual billing may reduce cost compared with month-to-month billing.
Usage This Period
The Billing page includes a Usage This Period panel that helps users understand how much of their subscription limits have been used.
This panel tracks:
- Storage used
- AI tokens used
- Documents processed during the current period
Each item is shown with a progress bar and percentage used. The page also shows whether the subscription is in trial status or displays the next renewal date for active paid plans.
This section is useful for deciding whether you need to upgrade before reaching plan limits.
Billing History
The Billing History section shows prior invoices and payment records.
For each billing entry, the page can display:
- Date
- Description
- Amount
- Status
- Receipt or invoice link
Available billing statuses include paid, failed, pending, void, or other invoice states returned by the billing system.
If a receipt, invoice PDF, or hosted invoice page is available, the page provides a direct button to open it.
TIP
Use Billing History when you need invoices or receipts for reimbursement, accounting, procurement records, or internal audit purposes.
Payment Method Management
The Billing page also includes a Payment Method section.
This area shows whether a default payment method is on file and gives the user access to Manage Payment Methods.
Selecting that action opens the payment method manager so the user can update or replace the stored payment method.
This is especially important when:
- A payment fails
- A card expires
- A new payment method needs to be used for renewals
Corporate Seat Licensing
For corporate accounts, the Billing page includes a Company Seats section.
Corporate seats are used to add additional users into the shared corporate workspace so they can collaborate on the same projects, collections, and related account assets.
This section shows:
- Total seats
- Used seats
- Seat pricing
Corporate seats are billed yearly. The page indicates that corporate seats are priced per seat and are intended for organization-wide collaboration.
If the current user is an Org Admin, they can enter a seat quantity and buy additional seats directly from the Billing page. If the current user is not an Org Admin, the page shows that only the Org Admin can purchase additional seats.
WARNING
Corporate seat purchases are intended for shared organization workspaces. Review current seat usage before buying more seats so licenses are purchased intentionally and assigned where they are actually needed.
Change Subscription
The Change Subscription Plan page is used to upgrade or downgrade an active subscription.
At the top of the page, the user sees:
- The current plan name
- Current billing rate
- Whether the plan is in trial status
- The next billing date, when applicable
The page then shows available plans and lets the user compare pricing in monthly or annual mode.
Upgrade Behavior
When a user upgrades to a higher plan:
- The change takes effect immediately
- A prorated billing adjustment may be applied
- The new limits become available right away
If the user is moving from a trial or other flow that requires checkout, the page sends the user into the checkout experience to start the paid subscription.
Downgrade Behavior
When a user downgrades to a lower plan:
- The change takes effect at the beginning of the next billing cycle
- The current plan remains active until that date
- Data remains accessible during the transition
This means downgrades are scheduled rather than applied immediately.
Corporate Seat Plan Changes
Corporate seat licensing is billed annually. Changing the license type from one of the individual tiers to a Corporate Seat is a one time only change that cannot be undone, meaning users cannot switch back to an individual tier pricing plan.
Cancel Subscription
Users with an active paid subscription can open the Cancel Subscription action from the Billing page or the Change Subscription page.
The cancellation workflow explains that:
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle
- Access continues until the current period ends
- Data remains accessible
- Premium features and higher limits will be lost after the paid period ends
- No refund is provided for the current billing period
The cancel flow also allows the user to optionally provide:
- A cancellation reason
- Additional feedback
DANGER
Canceling a subscription does not take effect immediately, but it does schedule the end of paid access. Review the effective date carefully before confirming cancellation.
Best Practices for Billing Management
- Monitor storage, AI token, and document-processing usage regularly
- Update payment methods before the billing date if a card is expiring
- Review annual pricing before leaving the trial if you expect continued use
- Use Billing History for invoices and receipts instead of keeping ad hoc screenshots
- For corporate accounts, purchase seats before inviting additional users
- Limit corporate seat purchases and Org Admin actions to the people who actually manage company onboarding
What to Do Next
After reviewing or updating billing, the most common next steps are:
- Update the payment method if billing needs attention
- Change subscription tiers if usage is approaching plan limits
- Purchase corporate seats if new users need access
- Review the Users page to assign newly available seats
